Believe it or not, our little man is 4 months old already. We have no idea where the time has gone, in fact, we have a hard time believing we have been in Columbus for nearly 9 months! It gets worse, it was just a year ago that we announced we were expecting Keaten.
As you already know (if you read Brianne's blog), Keaten just recently had his 4 month checkup and his current weight is 13 pounds 12 ounces and he is 25 inches long. I would identify the percentiles, but in all reality the percentiles are meaningless (I still haven't figured out why Doctors use them).
I'd love to say the Doctors visit went off without any hitches, but alas, how can that be? He did receive a few shots so it was expected for him to be in a bad mood afterwards. The day after was the worse, as the shots took their effect and his body worked in overdrive building up its' immune system.
In this past month, our little man is "rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river." From his back to his tummy and his tummy to his back. If that were not enough, he is doing a caterpillar crawl now too where he lifts his butt in the air and pushes himself forward. We keep telling him, he doesn't need to grow up so fast, but he just wants to catch up with that sister of his (I can only imagine the fun those two will have when he starts to walk and climb). This kid wants to be older, he acts like he is six months old instead of only being four months old.
During a recent trip to Lima, Keaten got to use Brianne's walker for the first time. Man did he love it! He was moving all over the dining room. This isn't much of a surprise to us given all of the time he spends in his exersaucer, sitting in his bumbo, and rolling and caterpillar crawling all over the floor.
During the past month, he is now routinely eating 6 ounces of formula every 2-3 hours; except at nights, he is sleeping well, in fact, just last night he slept for 9 and half hours. We tried to get him to eat cereal, but that has yet to work (he just doesn't care for it). Talking about things he doesn't care for, his pacifier. That kid would rather have his blanket than a pacifier (and we aren't upset one bit).
Our content little man is starting to find his voice. He has been much more talkative over the past few weeks, to the extent we had to taken him out of the worship service at church. Not because he was fussy, but because he wanted to have a conversation. So this last church service, we put him in the nursery where he did just fine. We went to go pick him up and the helper notified Mommy that he screamed the whole time. Right as Mommy was about to ask, "why didn't you come get me?" she quickly added, "just kidding, he was the best kid in the room." This came as no surprise to me, as he does great at the Child Care are Urban Active (where Mommy exercises).
Even with all of the above, Mr. Keaten got to meet his Uncle Andrew and Aunt Melissa for the first time when they spent a week here in Columbus. Keaten also got to meet his Great Uncle Dick for the first time too at Great Grandma and Pop Pop's 60th wedding anniversary party.
Okay, now for a SUPER SECRET, so SHHHH! This past month, Keaten initiated Grandma Wilkin. Let's just say, he was very comfortable sleeping in her arms and left a really really big wet spot on her shirt. Congratulations Grandma, you were the second person initiated into the Keaten Zachary club (the first being a nurse at the Doctors office).
Love,
Matt, Kami, Brianne and Keaten
