6 Month checkup already?

Can you believe it has been 6 months already! We can't either and he lives with us! As of Keaten's 6 month checkup, he weighs in at 15 pounds 11 ounces and is 26 1/2 inches tall. He received 5 shots in 3 injections and man was he miserable for the rest of afternoon and evening. However, as soon as the sun just barely started to peek over the horizon, he was up and in good mood.

Keaten has also had a lot of teething days this past month. He would just chomp and chomp on those gums making a smacking noise so loud you would think you just heard a sonic boom. You would think with that much effort a tooth would be popping through, but none have made it to the surface yet.

Then in the past couple of weeks, our little boy made a very important decision. He does not like to be confined! I can only imagine this as being a good thing. Let's face it, what parents would want to see their children in a confined space, such as, a jail cell, bottom of a well, or trapped in an elevator. If you put this little guy in a confined space, or you limit his mobility, be prepared to hear about it!

One morning after his nap, his sister and mommy caught him sitting up in his crib. The poor guy was crying just like his sister did, when she first sat up in her crib. But once he saw mommy and sister clapping and praising him, he did his best to laugh/giggle instead of crying.

If sitting up weren't enough it won't be too much longer and Keaten will be crawling. He is already getting into the crawling position and rocking his body back and forth. I tell you, that sister of his is really driving him to be mobile. He desperately wants to be able to play with her, and he is convinced that if he can crawl, he can keep up with her. Boy does he have it coming to him. That little guy will be worn out in no time trying to keep up with her (I see lots of naps in his future).

Although Keaten is very interested in helping us eat our food, he isn't the least bit interested in eating food himself. Every food we have tried with him, ultimately gets rejected. Peas, NOPE, sweet potatoes, NO THANKS, applesauce, FORGET IT, carrots, HA!, squash, MAYBE. He would just rather have his bottle. Oh well, he'll figure it out some day.

Oh and with the new mentality, of I want to have my mobility, don't you dare confine me, we have started to let Keaten play at COSI in their Kids Space. He will sit there and play with toys, fall over, keeps on playing, etc.

Over this past month we have had a few visitors, from Great Auntie Sheila, Uncle Elijah (who also spent the night and even slept in the same room as the kids), then we visited the Simon Family, and Great Grandma and Pop Pop Dauterman, and Great Grandma and Pop Pop Wilkin.

Last but not least, Keaten got to decorate his own pumpkin, even if it was by mistake. Mommy wasn't quite ready for him to get started, but his sister was! She handed him a plate of pink paint and next thing mommy knew, Keaten hands were covered in paint and going to town on a pumpkin. His sister is just a helper, we can hardly stand it :P.

Of course, what would an update be without updated pictures? So enjoy the pictures below.

Love,
Matt, Kami, Brianne, and Keaten
