Keaten is only 5 and half months old and he is already destined for Hollywood. I knew that title would get your attention so, instead of making you wait (like I normally do), I'm just going to get right to it.
Pull out a camera, video camcorder, whatever, and this little man will pose in all sorts of positions for you. I tell you, he is destined to be in front of a camera. Sitting, okay, laying down, okay, propped up on my elbows, got it. Oh, now you want me to smile, do a profile picture, how about one with toys? So get your autographs early on, because this little guy will be something BIG!
In case you didn't pick up on it in the prior paragraph, yes, our little boy is sitting up. In fact, don't you dare hold him for extended period of times, or pass him around, when he could be sitting and playing with toys (trust me, he will let you know)! The days of playing on the play mat are gone. Instead he sits in the middle of the room and either watch's his sister play with toys or he plays with toys, or they try and take each others' toys.
Also in this past month, Keaten had his first illness. An ear infection (no wonder Mommy wasn't getting any sleep!). The ear infection was barely started and this little guy would have nothing of it! The Doctor said it would be a 2 out of 10, so it was just beginning. Needless to say, Mommy and Daddy were a bit worried as they wanted to put him on Amoxicillin. For those of you who don't remember; Brianne is allergic to Amoxicillin and Penicillin. Thankfully, Keaten does not seem to have an allergy to Amoxicillin. :)
Then there was VeggieTales Live! Keaten had a blast. At first Mommy thought he would just like to snuggle up with her in the baby cradle, but OH NO! He wouldn't have any of that, the action was in the stage, not facing Mommy! He wanted to watch the show to the best of his ability. It wasn't until after intermission that the little guy fell asleep (which was WAY past his bedtime). And speaking of bedtimes, this little man thought that since he got to be out late the night before, he got a new bedtime! It took some convincing, but Mommy and Daddy got that taken care of (after a week).
Finally, within the last month, Keaten has been a regular attender in the nursery. It all started a few weeks ago when Mommy had him in Worship service and Daddy was running sound. Let's just say, Keaten decided to coo and ahh the entire service (no crying, just baby talking). So the next week he was placed in the nursery where he could tell the staff his entire story to his little heart's content. He did fantastic and has done well each time thereafter.
We'd like to say Thank You to our visitors this past month, Great Grandma and Grandpa Dauterman, Grandma and Pop Pop Wilkin, Mrs. Kaitie and Great Auntie Sheila. We also got to visit several people as well as we made a trip or two to the Lima, Findlay, and North Baltimore areas. During those trips we got to see Great Grandpa and Grandma Wilkin, and the Simon Clan (just so they don’t get too upset, I’ll try to list them all; Great Uncle Chuck, Great Grandma Re, Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Tia, Uncle Rob and Aunt Megan, Uncle Joseph, and several of the cousins). Keaten had a wonderful time with all of you and we look forward to the next time!
And for those of you in the family who may be thinking of having kids. Seriously, feel free to test drive it out by adopting our children for a weekend (or a few days during the week). Our kids are early risers, so you will be up between 4:45 AM and 5:30 AM guaranteed. They will then show their pickiness in eating, drinking, and plenty of diaper changing. After a few hours, a day tops, you won't be ready for kids yet!
Love,
Matt, Kami, Brianne, and Keaten
