Our little man is trying desperately to grow up as fast as he can. If crawling wasn't enough, we are determined to get to walking (or watching Mickey Mouse all day, I really think he would settle for either). We are constantly walking behind our zebra, Brianne's baby doll stroller, pretty much anything that has wheels and is easy to push.
With this mobile movement, we have found that there are toys, toys, and toys. However, the best toys are the ones that really are not toys at all... Ribbon, strings, cords, shoe laces, shoes, practice golf tees, all of these go in the mouth and get a good chomping. Of course, he is teething, he has 5 teeth already poked through and is working on at least 5 more.
Speaking of teeth, Keaten is now eating some table food. The other day we tried eggs, but that didn't go over well (I think he shoved most of it under the tray of his high chair. He loves eating Gerber puffs and occasionally like Yogurt Bites. Then there is block cheese, he just loves block cheese. I think he downed most of the cheese on our plates at Brianne's birthday party.
Along with discovering toys, he has become fascinated with one of his new toys, Scout. Scout is a dog that you can customize for your child, you can tell him the child's name, songs to play during the day and nap time, your child's favorite activities and much more. Pressing buttons on his paws activates these functions and Keaten loves it! He is at the point where he sleeps with Scout, or at least has to have him nearby. During the middle of the night it isn't uncommon to hear Scout start to play nap time music because Keaten activated it and then rolled back over.
This little boy loves attention, be it from a stuff animal or from people. He didn't make much of a peep at Brianne's party thanks to everyone wanting to hold him and giving him plenty of attention. It wasn't until the very end that he wanted to be on the floor so he could crawl around on his own. He did great considering he still wasn't feeling all that well.
Keaten had been getting over a really bad sinus infection. After battling it for two days and still no progress, we took him to urgent care, where he got a z-pak. Three days into the z-pak, he wasn't getting any better, in fact, he seemed worse. So, we took him to the doctors office and they put him on amoxicillin. 24 hours after the amoxicillin was introduced, our little man was feeling much better. Another 10 days and he was back to his normal self, giggling and playing.
Then there is bath time. This boy loves baths. If sister is in the tub, you better be sure, he is going to join her! One night Brianne needed a bath and so I got it all ready and got her in the tub. Keaten kept coming into the bathroom, to the tub and standing up as if he was going to pull himself into the tub (fully clothed). Since neither Mommy nor I really wanted to give him a bath (he had one the day before), I carried him to the living room and put up a gate in the hallway so he couldn't get to the bathroom anymore. No more than 30 seconds had past, he was at the gate balling his eyes out because he couldn't get the bathroom so he could play in the tub with his sister! Needless to say, I picked him up, stripped him down and placed him in the tub, obviously this was important to him, as the second I placed him in the tub of water, the tears were gone and he was giggling, splashing, and smiling having a good ole' time.
Now of course, I'm sure you want to see some new pictures, so without further ado, here they are.
Love,
Matt, Kami, Brianne and Keaten
