One small step for man, several steps for a little boy

Where or where does time go, it wasn't that long ago we wrote about taking Keaten's pacifier away when he was awake and out playing with us. Now we write to tell you this little guy is just a few steps away from running and walking freely. He is getting more and more confident each day and is now at the point of standing up and walking around on his own.

You'd think tackling walking would be enough for this little guy, but OH NO, you'd be wrong. We are climbing now too. We like to pull our self up on the blocks box so we can peek over Daddy's cage (as Brianne refers to it) and smile at him. We also like to see how far our reach can extend and if there is anything on Daddy's desk that we can grab and make it go "Boom!"

If that were not enough we are also trying to get our 1 year molars! Cutting the big teeth now, after all, those teeth are important for chomping meat into obliteration, and we love meat! Unlike our sister, you put meat in front of this little guy and he will chew it down by the handful. Chicken, check! Hamburger, check!, Pork, check!

With all that meat eating it is no surprise our little man is starting to grow. He is now wearing 12 month tops and because he has "no butt" like his Daddy, he is still in 6-9 month pants. No worries, everyone says, it will catch up to me someday (hopefully that is true for Keaten too :P).

Then there is the separation anxiety. Keaten does not like to be away from his Mommy and he is not afraid to show it! I can't wait to remind him of these days when he starts school and isĀ embarrassedĀ of his mom. Mommy, keep these days near and dear to your heart, you will need to pull them out of your memory bank when that day comes.

This last month we also celebrated Easter. Keaten's first Easter. Let's just say, he was enthused. First, Grandma Wilkin made him an awesome Easter basket decorated with Mickey Mouse! Then Mommy and Daddy filled that basket with all sorts of goodies, such as, a Mickey Mouse book, a stuffed Mickey Mouse toy, a Mickey Mouse bucket for the splash pad, some Mickey Mouse sippy cups and the last remaining BOZ movie that we have yet to own. I know, I know, that is a LOT of Mickey, so I hope you recently bought stock in Disney, it may have just made you a bit richer. Plus as a gift for both Keaten and Brianne we recorded a book for them to listen to adding to their ever growing recordable book collection.

We also got to do Resurrection Eggs with the kids this year, and that was a blast! Brianne seemed to grasp a bit of it, and the chances to open an egg to see what was inside really allowed her to pay attention to us (but I'll get into more of that with her blog update). Keaten obviously is a tad young for it but he enjoyed seeing his sister go through it.

Then there was the Easter Egg hunt. We scattered plastic eggs with his favorite treats throughout the living room and let him go at it. He really enjoyed playing with the eggs, placing them in his basket, and then dumping the basket causing the eggs to go everywhere.

Keaten got to visit his Auntie Amber and Uncle Kris for a few days last month and then on their way home he got to see his Great Great Aunt Jeanne and Joe for the very first time! To say they were thrilled would be an understatement, they were elated.

With that we end this update and can't wait to see everyone at Keaten's 1st Birthday party and his child dedication!

Love,
Matt, Kami, Brianne, and Keaten
