15 months and you can't corral me!

Let me tell you about our Houdini, not only is he a great pick pocket, but he'll get around any obstacle you put in front of him too! This little guy is great at sneaking off with remotes, food, toys, whatever it is that you took from him to begin with!

Just today I had the TV remotes in my lap (to keep them away from him), and he came over all giddy and laughing just looking for some interaction. Next thing I know, he is off and running with the remote laughing hysterically that he pulled one on Daddy. What a stinker!

You'd think that would be enough to deal with, but OH NO, this kid added a new complexity to our lifestyle. He can get around the baby gates now... It started at first with him getting behind the gate that protects my computer system from the kids. He checked out the entire gate, found its weak spot and pulled on it until there was enough room for him to get behind it. Once he was behind it, he made quick work of emptying the trashcan, then picking at items that were on the floor.

Since he successfully tackled one gate, he decided to work on the other and had it mastered in no time too. Mommy was supposed to be watching the little guy (Daddy was at work), and before she knew it, Keaten was in the kitchen and had the dish soap bottle emptied all over himself and the kitchen floor. Needless to say, this little boy became the happiest kid on earth, first he conquered the gate, next he got to play with a liquidy substance, finally it ended with him getting to play in the bathtub. For him, this couldn't get any better.

Our Houdini prodigy is now 21 pounds 12 ounces and is officially 30.5 inches tall. He is finally in 12 month clothes and a few 18 month clothing. He doesn't care for socks or shoes and will repeatedly remove them before we even get out the door. Even if we managed to get out the door with them on, they are usually taken off once he is fastened into his car seat.

Also this past month we took the kids back to Logan Lake so they could enjoy the beach and the water with their Uncle Elijah who spent the weekend with us. To say the kids had a blast would be an understatement. They loved it. Keaten kept sticking his head in the water, which freaked Mommy out each and every time. He also enjoyed finding rocks and sticks in the sand to stir the water with or to dig around in the sand (anything he could do to get dirty or sand all over himself).

Keaten got to spend a weekend with his Daddy too this past month as Mommy helped a friend with a garage sale. So Daddy took him and his sister to world of bounce, a place that has a lot of inflatables for kids to jump, climb, whatever on. He primarily got to play with a bunch of stacking foam pieces, hoops, and balls, while his sister ran from inflatable to inflatable. He thoroughly enjoyed himself and he desperately wanted to be able to get in the inflatables with his sister (some day Keaten, some day).

Well that's it for our Houdini for this past month (I'm not sure we could have handled much more!). We can't wait to see what he learns or figures out over the next month, what he gets into, whether or not his orneriness becomes more apparent (if that is possible), and so on.

Love,
Matt, Kami, Brianne and Keaten
