So the title probably got your attention, so I'll start off with that story. This past month Mommy was getting around and Keaten followed her to our bedroom, so she told him, "I need you to behave while Mommy gets around." So he quickly folded his hands and said "something something God" (God was all she could make out), to which she responded, "Are you praying to God to help you behave?", it wasn't much long after she said that, he just got the biggest smile on his face staring right back at her. Needless to say, if that is a preview for things to come, maybe this should be titled "Pray for us!" :-P
Prior to this moment, Keaten has become very good at saying "Thank you God" instead of just "God" now. He also now sits at the table with us and he just loves it! The first time he got to sit there he was just excited as ever. He looked around as if questioning our decision, then just smiled as he shoveled his food into his mouth.
Then there is his climbing abilities. Our little man has discovered that if he pushes the Elmo couch or the block container next to the sofa, he can utilize those objects to get himself up onto the sofa. If that weren't bad enough, he then proceeds to climb the back of the sofa so he can flip the light switches on the wall! Then this weekend, I revamped the media center to move the audio equipment out of Keaten's reach. We'll that backfired! The little guy decided to show me how resourceful he really is. As soon as I had it all rearranged, he opened the media cabinet door, stepped on the bottom shelf and then proceeded to play with the buttons!
Things aren't all up swing for this little boy this past month, he has been trying so hard to get 4 teeth to come in. Finally 2 of them can be felt through the gums (which means they should break through any time now). The other 2 have a bit longer to go.
Speaking of the downsides this month, this little guy couldn't get a break from his sister. She was pushing him, pulling him, dragging him, hitting him, taking things from him, you name it, she did it. He's been trying to figure out how to deal with her on these things. Usually he resorts to biting or pulling her hair. Other times, he just face plants on the floor and start screaming and crying. It won't be long before he's overpowering her (I'm sure the next year will change things immensely).
Just this past month, our little man took up reading. He'll grab a book or two, walk down the hallway to the rocking chair, sit it in and browse through his book. Once he's down, he'll toss it on the floor and proceed with another one. Definitely gets that from his Mother, then again, his books do primarily consist of pictures... so this could be from his Daddy too...
Along with reading books, this guy wants to sing like his sister. Anytime she starts singing a song (be it in the car or at home), he'll start squealing trying to keep in rhythm/tune with her. Unfortunately, he doesn't just leave his squealing to singing. He'll just randomly start squealing in the middle of the living room, enough to where Mommy and I have to stop what were doing and look to make sure everything is okay. Hopefully that phase passes soon...
Finally, but definitely not least, Keaten got a major haircut this past month as his Mommy was desperate to get rid of those curls. It was a sad day when Daddy came home to see his boy with his hair chopped off. Mommy best hope those curls return!
Another month has blown us by and we're excited that zero allergies have shown up with Keaten. We can't wait to see what trouble/shenanigans he gets into this next month!
Love,
Matt, Kami, Brianne and Keaten
