I bet you can't guess what Keaten's new favorite word is! Yep, you got it, "Yes". I'm just kidding, it is "No". Our little boy has officially started his terrible twos. The funny thing about it though, is his sister and him will go back and forth saying "No" to each other slowly escalating it getting louder and louder. It is slightly enjoyable watching them irritate each other by saying "No" back and forth.
Not only does he enjoy saying "No", he has the attitude down to a science with it too. When he is really frustrated, he'll say "No" strongly then cross his arms around his chest and point his chin either up in the air or down to the ground. He also will occasionally point his index finger at you when he says "No" too to show just how serious he thinks he is.
Since our last blog post, Keaten officially turned two and had a party! One that he enjoyed immensely. From decorating his own cake (after Mommy already decorated it), taste testing the icing, then celebrating it with all of his friends and family.
With Keaten's birthday money we bought him a toy mower, and oh my does he love it. When I went out to mow the lawn, he was right out there with his mower too. Of course, it caused me to take twice as long to mow because he would park his mower in front of me, or even worse, his toy car, but nonetheless, it was cute to see him out there mimicking me.
At his last doctor's visit he officially grew 3 inches and gained 3 more pounds. The doctor is very happy with his progression and stated his only concern was Keaten's high sausage intake (as that is likely more fat than what his little body needs at this moment), but he was pleased to hear he does eat other foods that are not considered high in fat too.
You can tell this little boy is definitely "all boy". This kid loves to get dirty! Just last evening, he was literally covered head to toe in sand! We literally stripped him in the garage and took him straight to the bath tub. Then there is his car fascination. This kid will drive his cars around the house on his hands and knees all day long! "Vvvrroooom, Vvvrrroooom" he says as he drives his cars by you paying close intent to where he is going.
Keaten is also attempting to play hide and seek. But his version is a bit different. First off, you don't have very long to hide, because he starts at 9. "9, 10, here I go", you'll hear as you sprint to a place close enough to hopefully hide you for a split second. Of course, nothing is more rewarding than when he finds you and squeals.
And if you didn't catch it, yes, our little one is attempting to use sentences. He does pretty well with them too. Not only he is connecting words, but he is also identifying shapes and colors now too. This two year old, is acting like a three year old, and we are excited about that!
Of course, one of his favorite playtime routines this past month hasn't been any toys, but rather the washer and dryer boxes that I turned into playhouses for the kids. Oh my goodness did these kids enjoy their playhouses! Keaten spent hours coloring them with chalk and running through them, peaking out the windows, etc.
This Easter was one to remember, as Keaten actually got into it this year unlike last year. He paid attention as we did the resurrection eggs, and when it came time for the Easter egg hunts, he was a hoot (much like his sister was at his age). He'd find an egg, open it, eat the contents, then drop it back on the floor moving on to the next one. It took us a while to get him to place the eggs in his basket and save the opening of them until later!
Oh and Keaten had his first big boy hair cut (much to Daddy's dismay)! But don't worry the curls are still there and are growing back nicely (I knew you were concerned). He did it like a champ too. He just sat on Mommy's lap and watched as the stylist cut his hair, not a single fuss was given that evening.
Last but definitely not least, this kiddo is getting into movie night with popcorn. This past month our favorite movie was "Planes", and boy has that caught their attention as they request to watch it again and again. This little boy will snuggle right in your lap, munch on his popcorn with his eyes glued onto the television screen watching the movie play out. It is awesome!
Lots of things have happened since the past entry and to help keep you entertained until the next one, keep coming back to take a look at the following photos!
Love,
Matt, Kami, Brianne and Keaten
