Can you believe it? We sold our house after moving back... no more than 30 days we were under contract, closed 30 days after that, and then moved 30 days following closing. Needless to say, our son was excited! I'm not quite sure what he thought of the house, he really never knew it (like Brianne did), so it was entirely new to him. He did conquer the stairs while we were there (he could go down the basement steps in 3 seconds flat!), but I just have a feeling he really didn't want to be there for very long.
Over the past month, our little boy has been trying to talk more and more. He's been working on putting sentences together to let us know exactly what he wants. I've let to determine if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Having two that want to talk non-stop isn't nearly as exciting as it sounds. I'm sure once they actually start talking to each other, we may have some interesting conversations to record/recollect.
The one thing Mommy and I are really excited about is the interest Keaten is showing in potty training. The first few days have been rough, extremely rough, but his interest is there and we've just got to buckle down and keep up with it. It probably won't take too long if we keep working with him on it.
So here is a joke for you, what is gritty and when applied to a little boy makes for a terrible mess if you undress him inside your home? Got it yet? Sand. Yes, this boy can hide sand in just about anything. His shoes usually have several ounces in them, then there is his pants, shirt, and of course his diaper (soon to be underwear). Lesson number one, undress him outside if he was playing in the sandbox.
Then there is the swimming pool. This boy loves the swimming pool. I was concerned at first as he's rarely shown any interest to actually getting submerged in the water (such as sitting or laying down), but with the new pool, he'll sit and scoot his butt all over the length of the pool. It is quite entertaining to watch him really play in the pool and enjoy the water with his sister.
Unfortunately, unlike his sister, he could care less about the splash pads (this year). He seemed to enjoy it last year, but who knows, it may appeal to him still later this summer.
Now the zoo on the other hand is an entirely different story. This little boy loves the zoo. He loves it so much that he'll pull the wagon through the zoo for you! In fact, he'll insist on it and will start kicking and screaming should you try and relieve him of his wagon pulling duties (to a detriment). He is able to walk the entire zoo too (and pull the wagon), which if you ask me, is impressive (because the zoo isn't small).
The only new characteristic he has picked up that I wish he'd unlearn is squealing. My goodness can this boy squeal. If it weren't such a high pitch squeal I probably wouldn't mind it so much, but I'm actually surprised he hasn't found the resonating frequency for all of our glass items yet (actually, I'm thankful he hasn't).
Keaten really seems to enjoy the new house. He adjusted within a single night and has slept really well in his room. Not only did he adjust well, he's sort of started his own bed time routine. He'll come up to Mommy and say "Mommy snuggle, Mommy snuggle", she picks him up, they either sit on the couch or lay on Mommy and Daddy's bed and he is usually asleep within 15 minutes. Mommy loves it and hopes he doesn't give up his snuggle time any time soon.
Much like his sister, Keaten decided to tumble down a few stairs (not in a toy car though) and had his first chiropractor visit recently too. He was a champ and didn't fuss at all, he just sat on Mommy's lap and got looked over and adjusted. Dr. Steve seems to have a way with children and that definitely made the process go easier.
And of course then there is Baby Olivia. Keaten loves her! It is actually quite funny how much he pays attention to her. In fact, he has even held Olivia a few times, however, I feel there is an ulterior motive to that). When we were in the hospital visit Auntie Megan and Baby Olivia, we were sitting on the sofa and Mommy wanted to pick up Baby Olivia again. Keaten caught wind of this and opened his arms and made a few grunts to signal he wanted to hold her. Mommy not wanting to waste a great opportunity quickly handed Baby Olivia to him, placing her on his lap. The smirk on his face said it all. "I got you to let go of Baby Olivia and you find me cute as a button right now!" It was just cute and funny all at the same time and he did this a few more times once Baby Olivia was home with her parents..
Well that was the past month and a bit more for Keaten, so until the next update, enjoy the following photos.
Love,
Matt, Kami, Brianne and Keaten
